Voice is choice when it comes to retelling old stories
Thoughtful piece. I love this: "There are no new stories under the sun. But there are always new voices to tell any story." Brilliant.
Talk about old wine in new bottles: That sentiment isn't original to me, I simply put it into my own words. :)
But they're such perfect words. :)
Alda's other films as writer-director play into his anchoring the audience as a certain race and class, whereas Fey has typically focused on social plurality in her work. Big difference.
I bet if Alda were writing today, he'd write for more diverse characters.
No doubt. The episodes he wrote and directed for “M.A.S.H.” were some of the first on TV to deal respectfully with feminism.
